About Journal

Applications of Language Studies (ALS) is a refereed international journal that seeks to create a cross-fertilization between research, training and professional practice. It aims to publish high quality, research-based, original articles, that highlight the applications of research results. It welcomes contributions not only from well-known senior scholars, but also from early-career researchers in the field. Hosted by Hazrat-e Masoumeh University (Qom, Iran), the Journal is universally accessible to researchers, educators, students and practitioners of language, translation and teaching as well as to others interested in the discipline. The Journal does not charge any access or publication fees.ALS is published twice yearly. Each paper in ALS is assigned a DOI® number. 

Peer Review Process in ALS

  1. Submission: Authors submit their manuscript through the journal's submission platform.

  2. Initial Screening: The editorial team performs an initial check to ensure the manuscript adheres to the journal’s scope, formatting guidelines, and ethical standards.

  3. Assignment to Reviewers: If the manuscript passes initial screening, it is assigned to 2–3 expert reviewers in the relevant field. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and the subject matter of the manuscript.

  4. Peer Review: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript for quality, originality, methodology, clarity, and adherence to APA style. They provide constructive feedback and recommendations for acceptance, minor revisions, major revisions, or rejection.

  5. Decision: Based on the reviewers' feedback, the editorial team makes a decision on the manuscript:

    • Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication.
    • Revise and Resubmit: The authors are asked to make revisions based on reviewers’ comments and resubmit.
    • Reject: The manuscript is not suitable for publication.
  6. Revisions and Resubmission: If revisions are requested, authors revise their manuscript and resubmit. Reviewers may be asked to evaluate the revised manuscript.

  7. Final Decision: Once revisions are completed and evaluated, the editorial team makes a final publication decision.

  8. Publication: Accepted manuscripts are prepared for publication in the upcoming issue of the journal.
